Chevening English language requirement: break down of scores

In order to receive a Chevening Scholarship, all applicants must demonstrate which they have fulfilled Chevening’s English language requirement by 16 July 2020. We advise all applicants to ensure they have fulfilled the English language requirement as early as possible by either:

• Taking an English language test.
• Claiming an exemption based on the UKVI categories that are exempt.

In the event that you fail to illustrate that you have met the desired English language level by 16 July 2020 or are not able to illustrate that you qualify for an exemption, the application will not be successful.

Chevening accepts English language tests from five providers:

• Academic IELTS
• Pearson PTE Academic
• C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge English: Advanced CAE)
• Trinity ISE II (B2)

Along with meeting Chevening’s English language requirement, you may need to meet English that is certain language to qualify for your university course. Universities may only accept a particular type of test or ask for higher test that is minimum.
